The stevia plant is a perennial but the growing cycle varies greatly depending on the particular strain and location. Stevia is sensitive to frost and in China where most stevia is grown today, it is common to only have one or two harvests. Closer to the equator it is possible to harvest year-round with some dormancy during the winter months. It is also possible to manipulate the harvest cycle and in developing countries a short cycle of as little as 45 to 60 days between harvests is preferred. Stevia Corp is sensitive to the economic and social impact of growing cycles and seeks to utilize strains that have the best overall economic and social impact for all parties involved.
